Healthy Canada by Design CLASP Webinar Series

The Healthy Canada by Design CLASP Initiative has begun a webinar series featuring presentations from each of the teams that received project funding from the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer for 2013/14.

The series began on March 4, 2014 with a focus on Incubating Healthy Communities in Rural and Remote Communities. This webinar included presentations from one public health professional and one planner from three of our HCBD project teams; those led by the New Brunswick Department of Health, the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Wellness Advisory Council.  The visual presentation has been posted on our webite.  An edited recording of the event will be posted by March 15, 2014, along with the adapted working draft of the Rural Active Living Assessment (RALA) tool that was discussed.

The second webinar, scheduled for April 24, 2014, will focus on Building Health Considerations into Transportation Planning Processes.  It will feature presentations by Meghan Winters, Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser Univeristy, Audrey Smargiassi, an Associate Professor at the School of Public Health at the University of Montreal, and Céline Plante, a Research Assistant at Montreal Public Health.

The third webinar, scheduled for June 17, 2014, will focus on Collaborating to Foster Active Transportation in Urban Settings.  This webinar will feature presentations by HCBD project teams in Halifax, Winnipeg and Ottawa.

The fourth and final webinar, scheduled for Sept 16, 2014, will focus on Incubating Innovative Streets & Neighbourhoods.  It will feature presentations by the HCBD project teams led by the Canadian Institute of Planners, the Canadian Insititute of Transportation Engineers, the National Collaborating Centre for Healthy Public Policy, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
